The ‘Eat for Recovery' campaign launched on 14 August 2014. A dedicated page on the National Accident Helpline website details 13 specially created recipes, grouped into breakfasts, lunches and dinners, alongside top tips for recovery and video tutorials featuring Amanda, all designed to help those recuperating after an injury or long-term illness.
Amanda has years of experience as a nutritionist and is a well-respected broadcaster. She regularly appears on flagship shows on both the BBC and ITV. All of the recipes are carefully crafted to boost cell repair and give the right nutrients for recovery. The meals and snacks are tasty, easy to make and suitable for any budget.
Russell Atkinson, Chief Executive Officer of National Accident Helpline, said:
"Our priority is to help personal injury sufferers get back on their feet after an injury.
"The process of recovering and getting back to life as normal can be stressful, and we are here to help, but it's also vital that people take care of themselves. Good, healthy and hearty food plays an important part in this. We feel this initiative will provide useful advice for the thousands of personal injury sufferers who face putting their lives back together following an accident or injury that wasn't their fault."
Amanda Hamilton, nutritionist and broadcaster, said:
It's at times of stress - either emotional or physical - that we need to look after our nutrition even more.
However, many of us will be familiar with the concept of ‘running on empty' or grabbing quick fixes when life gets challenging.
This National Accident Helpline initiative aims to rebalance that, providing accessible advice to those who need it most.
