The national award for law students, Future Legal Mind 2017, has launched in association with legal publication Lawyer 2B with a top prize of £5,000.
The award, now in its third year, offers a range of prizes to UK law students looking for a leg up in the legal industry.
Future Legal Mind 2017 entrants must complete an essay on the subject: “If eBay can resolve 60 million disputes each year, why does the UK civil justice system need lawyers?”
As well as the top prize of £5,000, the winner will gain a work experience placement to help them gain a foot in the door of the legal profession. Nine finalists, meanwhile, will each be awarded cash prizes of £250.
Last year's Future Legal Mind winner, Tom Phillips, said of the award:
I have no doubt that winning the competition has provided a significant boost to my CV and will ultimately help me to obtain pupillage. I would encourage all law students to enter the 2017 Future Legal Mind competition - it is a unique and valuable opportunity.
Judges this year will include National Accident Helpline managing director Simon Trott, Lawyer 2B editor Richard Simmons and National Accident Helpline legal director Jonathan White.
